Eco-Friendly School |

Schools on small islands may be the best place to implement various types of eco-system such as solar and wind energy generators, or other recycling systems.
Teaching the advanced ecological way of living to children may create higher educational effectiveness because life on small islands may feel more hopeful for the future.

Considering the environmental corresponding education institute, schools should become functional as observatories for the island.
We would like to establish networks for small islands that would specialize in data pooling network for the protection of an island. |

After graduating from high school, children must go to Okinawa or the mainland to receive a higher education because there are no vocational schools or universities in Miyako Island.
I think a vocational school or a university should be built on Miyako Island, so that we can recruit local students and students from other islands or the mainland.
The research for new energy resources to replace to petroleum resources has already started in the world. I think there are potential green energy resources to research such as solar, wind, and ocean current power in Miyako Island.
Miyako Island is also a good candidate for the research of coral reefs, which have been damaged under various factors.
I wish that there would be an agricultural college in Miyako Island that would lead agricultural research for the future, for the next generation, and create agricultural leaders. The college should have innovative curriculums that would attract all age groups.
I wish to have a university, a vocational school, or a research institution that would educate many who are willing to contribute to the environmental, energy, and food problems that will become serious issues in the future. (Takashima 2009/10/30) |
