Surplus agricultural and fishery products on small remote islands are as bad as lean harvest, because they have nowhere to send these excessive supply.
If they have low cost food processing systems, excessive supplies in the field and in the ocean can be preserved as processed food year round for the people of islands.
This cluster is to find the way to build low cost food processing systems.

We need to build a factory that processes surplus and disfigured agricultural and marine products, so that we can preserve for islands or sell those processed products to people outside islands.
One reason which closed down the old processing plant on Miyako Island was that the reduction of crop yield which could not compete with the cost of mass production in the mainland.
We need a new initiative to preserve food for ourselves. Effectively using products is important because resources in small islands are limited and have particular value.
This cluster is to find the ways to build less cost for public preservation cold warehouses and processing plants on small remote islands. |
