About Us
Marine Debris Program
  Miyako Island

Large-scale production and consumption based lifestyles in the East Asian region will increase greatly in the future, and surging consuming power will raise the overall volume of trash.
Many of these trash will be released to open sea through local rivers, and ocean currents will accumulate marine debris and wash them ashore to remote islands.
Geologically, small islands in the East Asian region will not be immune from marine debris matter for another few decades.

Based on these realities, nonprofit organization Priority-Number-One formed research cluster of the marine debris task management program on the platform of Miyakojima (Miyako Island) Project.
Miyakojima Project at Miyako Island in Okinawa, Japan is a physical research entity and experimental studies of marine debris cleanup methodology and localizing program.
